Project Summary

The Ridge Walk enhances the pedestrian and cyclist experience, focusing on identity and wayfinding for the main non-vehicular route through campus. The design balances the distinct historic character of both Muir College and Revelle College, while offering a fresh aesthetic to the surrounding campus neighborhood. Key improvements include an 8' wide AC cyclist pathway separate from a 10'-20' pedestrian pathway, along with gathering and seating areas on concrete surfaces and new wood decks.

Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) for the project include bioretention areas located throughout the site, seamlessly blending with the landscape design while mitigating the impacts of development. A below-grade trash capture device was implemented in a drainage area where bioretention facilities were not feasible due to space and slope constraints. Additionally, improvements to the existing storm drain system were necessary in some areas to accommodate the altered drainage conditions.
