Project Summary
The Gaylord Pacific Resort Hotel and Convention Center includes a 1,600 room 22 story hotel with a 600,000 sf convention center with four ballrooms, outdoor meeting areas and event lawns; public promenades and public amenities, all situated on a 36.7 acre parcel on the Chula Vista Bayfront.
Nasland Engineering provided all civil engineering and surveying services for the project including on site grading, utilities, and paving for the hotel and convention center. Our team envisioned and is executing the complicated utility relocation phasing and scheduling which will allow for the critical path construction of the hotel foundation and tower while maintaining services to adjacent existing Port tenants and providing utility capacity for the full build out of the Chula Vista Bayfront.
Nasland’s team prepared all the public infrastructure design and technical documents for the utility relocations, site demolition, phasing, interim access, and the grading of the H 3 parcel accounting for sea level rise. A completed new roadway infrastructure with two roundabouts and public promenades wraps the hotel parcel with new public utility infrastructure sized for full build out of the Chula Vista Bayfront area. Drainage improvements include on site and off site water quality treatment design and three new storm drain outfalls to San Diego Bay. Bikeway improvements included a separate bikeway on the south side of H Street and the extension of the Sweetwater Bikeway along E Street to connect to Bayside Park.
